Ann Marie Brown

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:33
Ann Marie Brown, 92, went to be with the Lord on August 21st, 2015 at the Wexford House, Kingsport, TN.
She was born in North Hampton County, NC on December 23, 1922 and was the daughter of the late Jim and Jennie Wheeler. She was married to Millard E. Brown from Ahoskie, NC on August 7th, 1942 for 61 years until his passing in 2003.
She was a friend to everyone and always kept in touch with friends through the years. She called herself a "people's person". Her greatest love was leading a lost soul to Christ. She taught Sunday School for 50 years and was a member of Capital City Baptist Church in Columbia, SC. After moving to Church Hill in 2004, she then joined Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church in Gray, TN.
Marie was the wife of a military man, so she was able to travel quite a bit. While at Ft. Bragg, NC, she started a neighborhood Bible Club. While they were stationed in Germany, she organized and taught a Bible study for Asian ladies on the military post. She was also president and Bible teacher of the PWOC (Protestant Women of the Chapel). Ann always used her musical talent of playing the piano at church and at the nursing home.
She retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield in Columbia, SC as an executive secretary. She loved gardening and composing countless sacred songs and poems. She was an exemplary wife, mother and grandmother, and she was dearly loved.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Millard Brown; sister, Edith Elliot; brother, Lewis Wheeler; four half-brothers: Jessie Wheeler, Raymond Wheeler, Hubert Wheeler and Shelly Wheeler; and two half-sisters: Emma Wilson and Gertie Britton.
She is survived by two daughters: Dana Marie Lederer and husband Donald, Kingsport, TN and Bonnie Elizabeth Anderson and husband Lynn, Jonesborough, TN; three grandsons, Jim Anderson and wife Lisa, Norman, OK; Dan Lederer, La Mesa, CA; John Anderson and wife Jennifer, Knoxville, TN; three granddaughters: Sandra Marcum and husband Tivis, Kingsport, TN, Deborah Robin and husband Forest, Woodland Hills, CA, Joy Galyon and husband Jason, Kingsport, TN; four great granddaughters: Cassandra and Jasmine Marcum, Slyvie and Oriana Robin; four great grandsons: Justin Anderson, Cooper and Griffin Galyon and Eli Anderson; two sisters: Mary Davis of Seabord, NC and Dora Hulse of Mt. Pleasant, NC; many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends at 8 am Tuesday, August 26th, 2015 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport. A service will follow at 9 am with Paul Monroe officiating, pastor of Capital City Baptist Church of Columbia, SC.
A committal service will be conducted at 12 noon Tuesday at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.
