Barbara Sue Chandler

Psalm 116:15 "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." Barbara Sue Chandler, age 76, a lifelong resident of Kingsport, passed away on Saturday, December, 31, 2016, peacefully at her home with her family by her side. She was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1958. Barbara worked 15 years for Crown Builders Supply/Lester Home Center. She was a member of Holy Mountain Baptist Church where she taught the ladies Sunday School Class, was active with the Ladies Fellowship and Senior Adults. She especially enjoyed spending time with and helping the widows, but most of all she wanted to be a Godly example to her family and a help to those in need. She was preceded in death by her parents, Neal Granger, Sr. and Susan Harrison Ketron; brother, William Franklin Ketron and sister-in-law, Jackie Ketron. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Chandler; son, Mike Hagey (Sonia) of Knoxville; daughter, Karen Carrick (Gene) of Gray; grandchildren, Benjamin Carrick, Elizabeth Carrick, Anna Grace Carrick, Nicholas Hagey, Abby Carrick and Sarah Hagey; brother, Neal Ketron, Jr. (Shirley); several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport. Funeral services will begin at 4:00 pm with Pastor Jerry Musick officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10:45 am on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Mountain Home, TN. All those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:40 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church Cancer Fund.
