Bette Gardner Hilton

Bette Gardner Hilton, born November 26, 1943, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2026. She will be fondly remembered through the many memories shared by her family and friends.

Bette's story was both ordinary and extraordinary-that made her uniquely herself. A graduate of Ketron High School, Class of 1961, her memory will live on in the stories of those around her.

A devoted Kingsport Press employee, Bette began her long career there in 1963 and remained dedicated to her work until her retirement. She was an avid reader and found solace in her work at the Press.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Randy Hilton; her mother, Bessie M. Morelock; her brother, Charles Rex Gardner; her nephew, Richard Gardner; her grandparents, Rev. Claude and Macie Morelock; siblings, Opal Doty, Irene Bernard, George Morelock, Helen Ketron, Charles Morelock, and Howard Morelock.

She is lovingly remembered by several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A special thank you is extended to Bette's caregivers at NHC-JC and Caris Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10am on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at East Lawn Memorial Park with Bro. Wade Childress officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:50am.
