Brenda Fay McClellan

Brenda Fay McClellan went home to be with the Lord on August 2, 2026. Born in Kingsport, TN on July 25, 1945, to Scy and Polly Dykes. Brenda followed in her father’s footsteps and retired from Eastman Chemical Company’s Technology Department in 2001 after 26 years of service.

Brenda loved to watch westerns with her dog Snoopy and was fiercely protective of her family and those she loved. She loved the Christmas holidays when all her family would gather together.

Brenda was proceeded in death by her parents, Scy Dykes and Polly Bledsoe Dykes; and a daughter, Polly Butler. Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years, James D. (Buddy) McClellan; daughters, Christy McClellan Day and Jenny McClellan; and one son, Willie Frye. Brenda was a loving grandmother to seven grandsons, John (Bub) Day (Hanna Day), Andy Day (Madison Day), William Day, Mason Frye (Holly Frye), Michael Castle (Brianna Castle), Aaron Butler, and Matthew Butler. Brenda was a loving Great Grandmother to Aphtyn Day, Benji Day, Matthew Butler Jr., and Gage Butler. Brenda was also a loving mother-in-law to John Day and Tessa Frye. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, special sister-in-law, Jean Anthony, and special friend, Kathy Oates.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Carter Trent Funeral Home Kingsport. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Rick Vannoy officiating. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 1:00 pm at East Lawn Memorial Park. Willie Frye, Mason Frye, Bub Day, Andy Day, William Day, and Michael Castle will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 pm on Thursday.
