Carol Sue Williams
Mar 31, 1940 — Jul 28, 2018
Carol Tipton Williams, age 78, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 28, 2018. She was born in Scott County, VA on March 31, 1940 but had resided in Kingsport for most of her life. Carol was a graduate of Gate City High School where she was a majorette. She was employed at an early age by Joe Fuller as a court recorder and legal secretary and retired from Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center as a medical transcriptionist.
Carol was a precious lady and was known as “GG” by her grandchildren and many of their friends. She never met a stranger and was loved by all who met her. She proudly served as the president of the resident council at Greystone Health Care in Gray. She was of the Baptist faith. Carol enjoyed gardening, flowers, vacationing and animals. She had a special place in her heart for her beloved pet dog, Helga. Most of all she was a loving mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family.
She was preceded in death by parents, David and Ella Tipton; and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Lisa Abernethy McCurry and husband, Craig, and Shannon Lee Russell; son, William Lee Russell, Jr.; 2 granddaughters, Ella Brianne Russell and partner, Crystal Clifton, and Kellyn Faith Gouge; great-grandson, Michael Clifton; sister, Lois Lane; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Ballad Holston Valley Medical Center, Ballad Hospice and Greystone Health Care for their love and support for Carol during her declining health.
