Carolyn Roberts

Carolyn Ruth Burchette Roberts, age 93, of Kingsport, Tennessee, was born on October 28, 1932.

She passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by the love of her family and her special care-giver.  A 1952 graduate from Blountville High School, Carolyn was a member of the Beta Club. She was voted “Best Personality” in her graduating class. It was here where she met her husband of 65 years in the lunch line, giving him her milk carton everyday.   Carolyn dedicated many years of service to Kroger Co., where she worked faithfully as a cashier until her retirement. She was known for her kindness, fun personality, strong work ethic, and warm smile that brightened the days of those she served.  A woman of deep faith, Carolyn was a Charter Member of the Blountville Church of God, the church her husband built and pastored. Her church family was very dear to her, and she lived her life guided by her steadfast belief and devotion. 

Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leighton C. Roberts; her mother, Alpha Tishe Hopkins Burchette; her father, Curtis Edgar Burchette; her brother, Kenneth Burchette; and her sisters, Zelma Coffman and Jean Kindle. 

She is lovingly remembered by her children; Leighton B. Roberts (Marie), Pamela Sue Harkleroad (Larry), and Dale Roberts (Amy), grandchildren; Leighya Harkleroad, Kendra Morie, Amber Barrett, Adrienne Presnell, Scotty Harkleroad, Shauna Morrison, Halie Roberts, and Kayla Edwards, great-grandchildren; Nathan Harkleroad, Michael Rhoton, Dacoda Harkleroad, Leighton Barrett, Emma Manis, Jonah Morie, Ella Morie, Daimyan Neal, Sophia Whetsel, Titan Presnell, Jayden Vance, Hayloe Sherman, Julie Wall, Chloe Wall, Hunter Wall, Brian Edwards, and Faith Edwards, great-great-grandchild; Amara Kerr, and her special caregiver, Diane Trent; beloved cat, Pumpkin; all of whom were a source of great pride and joy in her life. 

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the North Kingsport Church of God. A funeral service will follow with Gary Coffman officiating.  

A graveside service will be conducted at 11am on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at East Lawn Memorial Park with Dale Roberts, Buddy Roberts, Scotty Harkleroad, Nathan Harkleroad, Michael Rhoton, Daimyan Neal, and Dacoda Harkleroad. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50am.  

Carolyn’s life was a testament to love, faith, and dedication to family. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.
