Charlie Smith
Oct 14, 1944 — Feb 16, 2016
Charlie Smith, 71 of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at his home in Kingsport.
Charlie was a lifelong resident of Kingsport, TN. He was a successful Master Barber and started many hair salons including Hair Benders, The Head Quarters, Charlie Charlie's, and The Hair Doctors. In his spare time, Charlie enjoyed fishing, was an inventor; inventing the patented EZ Trach (among other things). He enjoyed giving back to the community holding yearly toy and clothing drives for Holston Home for Children, among other fundraisers. He went out of his way to help others and make sure everyone around him had what they needed. Charlie loved life and was always trying to make others laugh.
He was preceded in death by his father, Coy "Jack" Smith, his mother Evelyn "Ruth" Smith, his sister, Brenda (Ernest) Fleenor and nephew, Frankie Norris.
Survivors include his two daughters; Deborah (Michael)Smith and Jessica Smith; one grandson, Jordan Bright; a great-grandson, Christian Bright , who was his pride and joy; sister, Sheila (Charlie) Morris; two brothers, Winfred (Helen) Wright and Robert (Janie) Smith; his aunt, Etta Smith; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends (too many to list) whom he loved very much.
The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 pm on Monday, February 22, 2016 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, ShareLife Room, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. A Celebration of Life will follow at 7 pm.
