Dakota Scott Haney

Dakota Scott Haney, age 18, of Kingsport, born on November 23, 1998, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Dakota was currently a senior at Sullivan South High School where he was very proud to be a part of the vocational classes, especially welding. Dakota was a fun loving person who loved everyone he met. He loved his Jeep whom he lovingly called "Bonnie" and his dog, Cooter Brown Haney. He also enjoyed University of Florida Gators Athletics and was a Tim Tebow and Lebron James fan. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfathers, Charles (C.S.) Haney and Mitchell Byington; maternal grandmother, Karen Davis. He is survived by his father, Charles "Chris" Haney and wife, Misty; mother, Shontaine Sawyer Haney and fiance', Kevin Lacey; brothers, Jacob Buchanan and Tanner Horton; sisters, Khloe Lacey and Becky Shipley; paternal grandmothers, Minnie Haney and Donna Byington; maternal grandfathers, Terry Davis, and Danny Bruce Kellner and wife, Debbie; aunts, Belinda Tolley and husband, Gary, and Nickie Tittle and husband, Frankie; uncles, Claude "Andy" Haney and wife, Evelyn, Roger Haney and wife, Claudene, Bruce Sawyer and wife, Rhonda, Eddie Kellner and wife, Jackie, Zachary Kellner and wife, Kandace, Marty Byington and fiance', Paula Greene, and Jamie Byington and wife, Teresa; special friend (girlfriend), Kaycee Allen; special cousin, Ashley Crawford; great-grandmother, Barbara Sawyer of Phoenix, AZ; several great-aunts and great-uncles. The family is receiving friends from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Sullivan South High School in Kingsport. Funeral services will begin at 3:00 pm with Rev. Greg Honaker officiating. Interment will follow at the Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Fall Branch.
