Dennis Eddie "Teddy" Flagg

Mar 3, 1945 — May 6, 2026

Dennis Eddie (Teddy) Flagg, age 81 of Church Hill, TN, passed away May 6, 2026 at VA Medical Center in Johnson City, TN. Teddy was born in Phelps, KY on March 3, 1945. He graduated from Phelps High School and later attended Southern Community College. He worked for James River Coal Corporation until his retirement in 1999 and relocated to Church Hill, TN in 2013.

Teddy was a veteran of the Vietnam War and benefited greatly from the care and services provided by the Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center, especially over the last 14 months. The family will forever be grateful for the care and attention provided by every doctor, nurse, support staff, and administrator for their dedication to caring for our veterans.

Teddy loved his family and enjoyed talking with friends he made throughout his life from work, fishing, golfing, and riding motorcycles. He loved traveling and experiencing new cultures, especially different types of food. His favorite way to travel was cruising and all-inclusive resorts where he could watch the waves of the ocean with his first cup of coffee in the morning until the moonlight danced across the water at night.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, who raised him as their son, Thomas and Sally Francis, parents Emogene (Bob) Justice and Edward (Diane) Flagg; brothers Robert Justice and Fred Flagg, sister Karen (John) Moret, stillborn son Thomas Edwin Flagg, and his beloved companion and best dog in the world, Brutus.

Left to honor his memory is son Stefan Neil (Beverly) Flagg, daughter Paula Denise Flagg, granddaughter Dylann Skye Loggins, wife of 50+ years Paulette Layne Flagg, brother Greg (Kay) Francis, and sister Drucilla (Doug) Dotson, along with many family and friends, especially Joey Justice and Ronnie Mullins.

Services were held privately to honor Teddy’s memory, at his request.
