Elizabeth Grace Gilreath

Elizabeth Grace Gilreath, age 85 of Kingsport, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 21, 2025.  Elizabeth was born on July 9, 1939, in Scott County, VA to Howard and Berta Gilreath.  Elizabeth worked many years as a private nurse and 13 years as a nurse at Holston Valley Medical Center.  

Elizabeth loved her family, and she enjoyed working crossword puzzles and reading.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.  

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, John Henry Hammonds; brother, Bill Gilreath; and two sisters, Rennie McCann, and Betty Roberts.  Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Robin Hammonds Colvard; granddaughter, Amy Leonard; two great grandchildren, Isabella, and Jaxson; two sisters, Vel Hyde, and Nancy Wallen and husband, Joe; one brother, Jim Gilreath; and many loving nieces, nephews, and family members.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Walnut Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Lauri Jo Cranford officiating.  Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 pm.
