Elva Ruth Kilgore

Elva Ruth Kilgore, 88, of Gate City went to be with the Lord, peacefully, (October 3rd, 2015) with her family by her side. Ruth was gifted with a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She loved to sew, cook, can, tend to her garden and sit and watch nature. She loved her church family at Midway Baptist. Ruth was content with what the Lord had blessed her with. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Iva McClellan and husband, Pete Kilgore. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Kilgore; son, Mike Kilgore and wife Karen; four grandchildren, Jon Michael Kilgore, Joshua Mark Anderson and wife Sharon, Justin Michael Anderson and wife Jessica and Katie Ann Castle; one great grandchild, Reid Oliver Anderson. Special thanks to her loving caregiver, Amy and to her hospice nurses, Barbara and Diane. The family will receive friends from 5 till 7pm Monday (October 5th, 2015) at Scott County Funeral Home. A service will follow at 7pm with Pastor George Willis and Evangelist Marvin Egan officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 11am Tuesday (October 6th, 2015) at Morgans Chapel Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Those who plan to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50am. Carter-Trent/ Scott County Funeral Home is serving the family of Ruth Kilgore.
