Evelyn Nila Orrick

Sep 23, 1939 — Oct 5, 2026

Evelyn Miller Orrick, 87, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on October 5, 2026, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born on September 23, 1939, in Kingsport, TN, to Laster and Elise Miller. Evelyn was married to her beloved husband, Jim, for 60 years.

Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who spent most of her life caring for and loving her family. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years and later worked at Remington House. But her greatest accomplishment was always her family.

Evelyn was an amazing mother and grandmother, known for her kind heart, her wonderful cooking, and the love she poured into everyone around her. She was an especially talented cook, and her famous chicken and dumplings at Thanksgiving became a beloved family tradition that will never be forgotten. She also loved watching the Food Network and finding new things to enjoy in the kitchen.

She leaves behind her children, Allen Orrick and wife Lynn, DeeDee Tyree and husband Dean; grandchildren Dustin Orrick, Cassidy King, and Braden Seymore; great-granddaughter, Juniper Bates and one sister-in-law, Billie Orrick. She is also survived by several beloved nieces and nephews, along with many family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Orrick; her parents, Laster and Elise Miller; and her three sisters, Shirley Brooks, Marilyn Fletcher, and Jane Larkins.

Her family will remember her not only for the meals she prepared, but for the love that was always sitting around her table. Her home, her cooking, her laughter, her love, and the traditions she created gave her family memories they will carry with them forever.

Evelyn was deeply loved, and she will be missed more than words can say. Her family finds comfort knowing that the love she gave so freely will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, and the generations to come.

Evelyn’s wishes were to be cremated and not to have a formal service. In the meantime, anyone who wishes to visit and share memories of Evelyn is welcome to visit the home anytime Wednesday.
