Floyd Franklin Horner

Floyd F. Horner, age 84, of Mt. Carmel, went to be with the Lord, on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Church Hill Health and Rehab Center. Floyd lived life to its fullest; he enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, feeding birds and having lots of pets to love. He took a lot of pride in playing Santa Claus at Christmas time for the Carter's Valley Ruritan Club. He was very proud of the plaque he received for his service to the community bringing Christmas cheer to those he met while playing St. Nick. Most of all he was a devoted and loving husband and father. He will be dearly missed by his wife and children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reece and Timmie Horner; and 2 brothers, Charles and Bob Horner. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Evelyn Horner; children, Peggy Lowe (Rick), Frank Horner (Nancy), Freda Horner, Tammy Ratliff, and Debbie Ryans (Tommy); grandchildren, Jessica, Miranda, Derrick, Tiffany, Casey and Nicholas; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Horner; and a host of extended family and friends. The family would like to recognize and thank the staff of Church Hill Health and Rehab Center for their care and support. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. Interment will follow at Bent Creek Cemetery in Whitesburg.
