Freedamae Rose Goad

Freedamae Rose Goad, age 91 of Kingsport, TN went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 23, 2026. Freeda was born on May 31, 1935, in Galax, VA to Fred Brown and Eliza Kate Hackler. On October 27, 1950, Freeda married the love of her life, Murrell Goad Jr, and after 69 years of a beautiful marriage and raising a family of five, he preceded her in death in April of 2020.

Freeda loved her family and she was a member of Christian Life Center in Kingsport. She enjoyed woodworking, needleworking, painting, drawing, and all kinds of crafts. She was also known as a ‘GREAT COOK’. The love that she has for her family will continue on in their lives.

Freeda was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Murrell Goad Jr; son, Freddie Goad; granddaughter, “Buffy” Michelle Coleman; great grandson, Samuel Coleman; sister, Joann Byrd; and brother-in-law, Eldon Shelton. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Curtis Goad and wife, Lorraine; three daughters, Sandra Overbay and husband, Bill, Karen Couch and husband, Harold, and Greta Lawson and husband, Lynn; five grandchildren, Robert “Jody” Goad and wife, Louisa, David Goad, Camille Frix and husband, Jason, Alisa Vaughn and husband, Kip, and Jonathan Lawson; nine great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister, Garnita Shelton; and many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.

The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to the staff of Holston Rehabilitation and Gentiva Hospice.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Carter Trent Funeral Home Kingsport from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm with Gentiva Hospice Chaplain Steven Spell officiating. A graveside will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Bill Overbay, Lynn Lawson, Jonathan Lawson, Josh Canipe, Isaac Coleman, and Harold Coleman will serve as pallbearers.
