Gary Wayne Doran, 79, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 5, 2026. He was born in Kingsport to the late R.C. and Jo Doran. Gary served his country in the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War where he received a Bronze Star. He was a man of God and was a member of Doran Addition Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a trustee. Wayne was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Rhonda Doran; son, Samuel Wayne Doran; brothers, Benny and Roger Doran; father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Rebecca Quillen; sister-in-law, Linda Doran; brother-in-law, Robert Quillin; step mother-in-law, Nell Lovin Quillin.

Survivors include his brothers, David Doran Sr., Gene Doran and wife Judy; sister, Mary Ann Davidson and husband Eddie; sisters-in-law, Sarah Rogers and husband Marty, and Janice Quillin; step brother-in-law, Onia Lovin and wife Jennifer; nieces and nephews, David Doran Jr. And wife Barbara, April Stout and husband Will, Anna Evans and husband Corey, Andrew Doran and wife Kylene, Jason Doran, Tyler Housewright and fiancé Brandi, Whittney Witt and husband Robert, Brandon Rogers and wife Tania, Heather Rogers Babb and wife Megan, J.R. Quillin, Travis Jones and wife Kimberly, Tammy Tucker and husband Scott, Ashley Lovin, Amber Miller and husband Terry; special friends, John and Helen Pennington, Jerry Wittemore, and Steve Gamble; along with many great and great-great nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. A funeral service will follow with Buford Quillin officiating. Music will be provided by the Quillin family.

A military graveside service will be conducted at 11am on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Morrison Chapel Church Cemetery with the American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 conducting the honors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Nathaniel Witt will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet a the funeral home by 10:15am to go in procession to the cemetery.
