Gary David Lane
Nov 19, 1952 — Jul 17, 2015
Gary David Lane, age 62, took Jesus hand on Friday, July 17, 2015 at Brook Haven Manor Skilled Nursing Facility where he took his son, Eric, in his arms. Born on November 19, 1952, Gary spent his entire life in Kingsport. He graduated from Lynn View High School and was employed by Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center where he also retired from. Gary worked in the pharmacy at the time of his retirement in 2011. He had many fond memories of his work at the hospital and had so many special friends that were dear to his heart.
He was preceded in death by his son, Eric Thomas Lane; special aunt and uncle, Mable and Thomas Lane; and special aunt, Ruthie Lane.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Rachel Mae Lane of the home; son, Nathan Andrew Lane of Knoxville; mom and step-dad, Virginia and Doug Bruner of Church Hill; sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Eddie Arnold of Church Hill; step-brother and wife, Johnny and Kim Bruner of Kingsport; one "nuther brother" and wife, Johnny and Edna Jones of Church Hill; and a host of several other friends and family.
Gary spent his last days here on Earth testifying about his Lord and Savior and telling everybody it is so simple to except the Lord.
Gary was very proud of his son, Nathan, a graduate of the University of Tennessee and talked about him all the time. He was with us long enough to know that Nathan graduated in May of this year with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering. There has never been a more proud dad than Gary of his son.
The family would like to especially thank the nursing staff at Brookhaven for the special care given to Gary during his stay there. Also a special thanks to Larry (Hospice Nurse) for all his care and help with Gary.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Monday, July 20, 2015 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. Funeral services will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Jerry Musick and Pastor Charles Wallen officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Church Hill Memory Gardens.
Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.cartertrent.com.
