Glenn was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He went on to build a distinguished career with Mead Paper in Kingsport, Tennessee, retiring as Manager of Power and Utilities. His dedication to his profession was matched by his many personal interests, including gardening, reading, spending time outdoors, and cheering on his beloved Tennessee Volunteers. An avid Vol fan, Glenn enjoyed following UT sports and sharing stories with family and friends. He was also a member of Outdoorsmen, Inc., in Kingsport and Colonial Heights United Methodist Church, where his faith and fellowship were an important part of his life.
In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his siblings, Edith Hayter (Roy), Betty Latture (Don), Edgar Calhoun, and Don Calhoun (Margaret).
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Kathryn “Kay” Whitaker Calhoun of Blountville, Tennessee; his daughters, Michelle Bossert (Shawn) of Kingsport, Tennessee, and Barbara Carroll of Weeki Wachee, Florida; his grandchildren, Dixie Hammer (Todd) of Apollo Beach, Florida, Amanda Cooper (Kyle) of Lithia, Florida, and Matthew Harvey of Blountville, Tennessee; his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Baker (Paul) of Abingdon, Virginia, and Billie Calhoun of Kingsport, Tennessee; and his special family, Brian Winchell (Sheila) of Blountville, Tennessee, Morgan Winchell (Catherine) of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Taylor Winchell (Tory) of Kingston, Tennessee. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many special friends who will forever treasure his memory.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 1:00-2:00 PM at Colonial Heights United Methodist Church, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM with Rev. Tim Paul and Rev. Michael Lester officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery with Ronnie Barger, Richard Jones, Robert McClain, Richard McClain, Aaron Blevins, Mark Bland, and David Bays serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Colonial Heights United Methodist Church.
