Ilene Rimer

Ilene Rimer, age 90, of Surgoinsville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 20, 2016 peacefully at her home following an extended illness. She was a life-long member of Long's Bend Missionary Baptist Church in Surgoinsville. She enjoyed gardening and tending to flowers. She was well known for her giving heart and her purse full of candy, in which all children that she met gladly received a piece of. She proudly volunteered at Surgoinsville Elementary, Middle and High Schools for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and will be greatly missed by all who love her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon L. Rimer, Sr.; parents, Moss and Sylvia Ball; and brothers, Carl H. Ball and Raymond L. Ball. She is survived by her 5 loving children, Janice Hunley, Lynn Rimer (Theresa), Louis Rimer (Sharon), Lisa Rimer and Michelle Hall; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; loving sisters, Shirley Ball, Gwen Stubblefield and Alice Gibson; loving brothers, Kyle Ball and Jerry Ball; several nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Long's Bend Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 3:00 pm with Pastor Doug Messer of Hope Community Church in Allandale officiating. Interment will follow in Long's Bend Church Cemetery.
