Jackie Darrell Maynard
March 27, 1954 — October 18, 2016
Jackie D. Maynard, age 62, of Church Hill, went home to be with the Lord and his family on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 following a courageous battle with cancer in which he fought till the very end. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having proudly served his country in Germany. He was a retired truck driver with 30+ years of service until declining health forced him to stay home. He was most recently employed with USF Holland. He was a member International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 519 in Knoxville, TN. Jackie was a man who made friends everywhere he went, and had a deep love for children and contributed to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. He was a born again Christian and served the Lord as a member of Poplar Grove Primitive Baptist Church. He thoroughly loved the Lord and his Pastor Oscar Irvin. He also enjoyed sports and especially the University of Tennessee Volunteers and the Virginia Tech Hokies.
He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Maynard; father, Corbet Maynard; mother, Juanita Davidson and great-granddaughter, Calista Maynard.
He is survived by his son, Jamie Maynard; granddaughters, Allison Maynard and Brittany Maynard; great-granddaughter, Jana Maynard; sister, Brenda Hensley (Jerry) of Sumpter, SC; brother, Ricky Davidson of Gate City, VA; life-long friends, Tim "Dooley" Sawyer (Kathy) and family; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends from Pikeville, KY.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Poplar Grove Primitive Baptist Church located at 744 Poplar Grove Rd. in Kingsport, TN 37664. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm.
