Kennie Mcdavid

Kennie McDavid, 86, of Gate City went to be with his Lord on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at his residence following a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of Scott County, Kennie worked for Little Construction, Warren Funeral Home, Scott County Funeral Home, and retired from Roberts Tire and Recap. He loved to go fishing, hunting and especially attending his family reunions. He was preceded by his first wife, Margaret Jennings McDavid; his second wife, Eva Jo Davis McDavid; son, Nelson Tipton; his parents, Abe and Callie Kerns McDavid; his brothers, Willie McDavid, Robert McDavid, Clyde McDavid, Tommy McDavid, and June McDavid; his sister, Myrtle Bishop. Kennie McDavid is survived by his sons, Mark McDavid and wife Kathleen, and Kenneth Jennings McDavid; thirteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; survived also by his sisters, JoAnn Stapleton and husband Roy, and Olene Blair; along with several nieces and nephews. A special thank you goes out to Olene Blair, Aden, and all the McDavid kids for the special care given to Kennie. The family will receive friends 4 pm to 7 pm Tuesday, October 25, 20146 at Scott County Funeral Home or friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will be conducted at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sam Newland and Rev. Kenneth Kiser officiating. Music will be provided by Tommy Browder. A graveside services will be conducted 11:30 am on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at The New McDavid Family Cemetery (Rye Cove) with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Anyone wishing to attend the graveside service is asked to meet at the funeral home to go in procession. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home is serving the McDavid family.
