Kyle Carter

Kyle Issac Carter, Sr., 96, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday evening, April 30, 2015, at the home of his daughter, Ernestine in Kingsport.
Kyle had been in declining health for a while but was able to be in his home until March of this year, when he suffered a fall. Kyle was born April 20, 1919 to the late John and Myrtle Frazier Carter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving and faithful wife of 62 years, Polly Quillen Carter, and two sisters, Ellen Carter Chapman and Velma Carter Jackson.
He made his home in the Stanleytown Community of Scott County, Virginia where he was born and raised. He was a farmer and served his country in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946. Kyle was a pillar in his community and served the DeKalb District on the Board of Supervisors from 1964 to 1968.
He loved to go to church and was a member of Clinchport Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. The Lord blessed him with health and strength to drive and go to church until he was 95 years of age. He so enjoyed hearing the preaching of God's Word and the singing of songs.
Mr. Carter is survived by his son, Kyle Carter Jr. & wife Jenny of Duffield; two daughters, Teresa Enix & husband Phillip of Haymarket, VA and Ernestine Lester & husband Rev. Dr. Roy Lee Lester of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Kayla Carter, Thea LePorte & husband Michael, Joshua Lester & wife, Melanie; three great grandchildren, Devon Vickery, Carter Lester and Mattie Lester; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Wellmont Hospice; caretakers, Nicky Lawson-Owens, Nella Hutchins and Pat Ratliff and to Dr. Todd Cassel and the staff of Clinch River Health Services.

Jimmy Combs, Dr. Todd Cassel, and Pastor Cecil Kerns, officiating. Music will be provided by The Way of the Cross singers.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Monday, May 4, 2015, at the Hall Cemetery, Duffield, VA with Josh Lester, Myron Fields, Willie Chapman, David Jackson, Junior Jennings and Dwight Quillen, serving as pallbearers.
