Mable "Ruth" Blanton

Weber City - Mable "Ruth" Blanton, 67 of Weber City, VA, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at her residence following a brief illness. Born in Kingsport, Ruth had lived in Scott County all of her life. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rexter and Julia Leonard Tipton. Ruth is survived by her loving husband, John Blanton; daughter, April Gillenwater and Michael Grizzle; grandson, Bryson Gillenwater; step-son, Michael Blanton and wife Melissa; step-grandchildren, Michelle Graham and husband Jordan and John Thomas Blanton; step-great grandchildren, Riley and Hudson Graham; special sister, Freddie Roark and husband Paul; sisters, Mary Cole and Janet Norman; brother, Howard Tipton and wife Carolyn; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, August 1, 2016 at Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City. Friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Aaron Edens and Rev. Paul Blessing officiating. A eulogy will be given by Howard Tipton. A private graveside service will be held Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Freddie Barnett, Ronnie Tipton, Brent Meyers, Michael Grizzle, Bryson Gillenwater and Samuel Gilliam. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Blanton, Paul Roark, Mike Blanton, John Thomas Blanton and Chad Gillenwater. Scott County/Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Weber City is serving the Blanton family.
