Mable Marie Crawford Gregg

Jan 31, 1941 — Sep 29, 2024

"A mother's perseverance is like a mountain that cannot be moved, no matter the storm that rages".

In Loving Memory

Mable Marie Crawford Gregg, 83, peacefully went to be with the Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 29, 2024, after a courageous battle against cancer.

Mable was born and raised in Sullivan County to Nancy Louise (Mauk) and James P. Crawford in January 1941. Mom learned the value of family during one of the most difficult times in history, being raised by Mamaw and Papaw Crawford during the Great Depression when family and friends were all most people had. In 1960, Mable married Eugene Gregg and for 56 years they built a loving home full of laughter for their three sons. Mable dedicated her life to raising her sons and nurturing her grandchildren. She was a faithful Christian woman who was strong and steadfast in her faith and always did her best to be kind, generous, and loving. Her strength and resilience through difficult challenges inspired her family every day. More than a loving mother, she also garnered respect and admiration from her church family and friends. Her boys loved her dearly. She will forever be in our homes, thoughts, and hearts.

Mable was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheila Joan in 1966; her husband, Eugene Gregg in 2016; her parents, Louise and James Crawford; and sister, Virginia Smith.

Surviving Mable are her three sons: Phillip (Patti) Gregg of St. Augustine, FL, Dr. Randal (Sarah) Gregg of Spring Hill, FL, and Bryan Gregg of the home; grandchildren: Matthew (Julie) Gregg, Whitney Gregg, Reagan Gregg, Karley Gregg, Makenna Gregg and step-granddaughter, Samantha Davison; three great-grandchildren, Ellie Lockler, Finley Gregg, and Clara Gregg; one sister, Barbra Gardner; one brother, James Howard Crawford; special nephews, Robert Hawk and Ralph Smith; special cousins, Virgil Mauk and Betty Diana Crawford (US Army retired), several additional nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Reverend (retired) Gene Webb.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Carter-Trent Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Baker and Pastor Ronnie Owens officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to be at the funeral home by 2:50 pm. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
