Marcella Lea Johnson - Murray

Marcella Lea Johnson Murray, 68, passed away on July 5, 2026, in Kingsport after a lengthy illness. She was a lifelong Bloomingdale resident. She was a 1976 graduate of Ketron High School and went on to earn her cosmetology license at Kingsport Cosmetology School. Marcella loved flower gardening and was an avid believer in Bigfoot.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Shirley Johnson. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 46 years, Johnny Murray; their 2 sons, Johnny Ray Murray (Naza) of Kingsport and Justin Murray (Leah) of Church Hill; granddaughter Clara Murray; sister Myra Adams of Kingsport; several nieces and great nieces and nephews; and lifelong best friend Jodie Templeton of Kingsport. She recently became a “Mamaw” to her first grandchild, Clara Murray, whom she adored.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to your local animal shelter; flowers are still welcomed. The family appreciates all the phone calls and visits; however, the family is asking for privacy at this time.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Carter Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Chad Tipton officiating. A graveside will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 am.
