Margaret Frances Smith, 71, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Holston Valley Medical Center. She was born in Rogersville to the late William Farley and Maggie Florence Hammonds. She grew up in Kingsport and attended West Kingsport Church of God. Later in her life she attended Weber City Church of God for 42 years under her brother Pastor Raymond Hammonds. She loved eating out and spending time with her family and best friends Janice Sutherland and Debra Sams. While she was not able to attend church she loved to watch Jimmy Swaggard ministry. Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Smith; son, Matthew Smith; sister, Betty Jean Castle; brother, Rev. Raymond Hammonds; niece, Christa Castle.
Survivors include her granddaughter who was her pride and joy, Abbie Grace Smith; sisters; Portia Cress and Donna Carico and husband Harry; along with a host of friends and extended family.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2pm on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Church Hill Memory Gardens with Rev. Jonathan Hammonds and Pastor Wayne Morelock officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport is serving the Smith family.
