Mary Nell Cox

Mary Nell Gregg Cox, 82, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 20, 2018 after an extended illness at Holston Valley Medical Center. Mary had a great love for God and attended church as long as she was able. She loved to read her Bible and pray every day. She was an avid wrestling fan, she watched and went to wrestling matches whenever she could. The wrestlers she loved to watch most was her grandson Daniel and his friend Travis Lee. In addition to wrestling she was an avid Nascar fan and especially was a fan of Bill Elliot and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Mary loved being with family and doing things with them especially her sisters, Pauline, Mae, Lucille, and brother Gene. She loved going to yard sales and often went to them with her sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Katie Mae Gregg; sisters, Pearl Holland, Pauline Smith, Eula Mae Hawk, and Lucille Dykes; brothers, Edward and Eugene Gregg; infant brothers, LV Gregg and Frank Jr. Gregg; Mary Nell is survived by her daughter, Karen Willis and husband, Mike; grandson, Daniel Way and fiancé Talisha Ketcherside; along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home downtown, Kingsport. A funeral service will follow in the chapel with Pastor David Salley, officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11am on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Oak Hill Memorial Park with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15am to go in procession. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Cox family.
