Nina Jennings departed this life and received her Heavenly reward on Christmas Eve in Tupelo, MS from complications following a series of strokes during her visit to Mississippi.
Nina was born in Scott County, Virginia where she attended Dungannon High School. After meeting and marrying her husband Bud, she spent her entire adult life in Kingsport. Nina worked for The Nettie Lee Shops in the Credit Department and after the closure of Nettie Lee’s later retiring from the Bank Of Tennessee. Nina was a member of Lynn Garden Baptist Church where she was baptized by the original pastor J.L Trent in the 1950’s.In her later years, she especially enjoyed her Sunday School class and the many friends she had there.
Nina was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Jennings; parents, Worley and Melissa Flanary; sisters, Beulah Pendleton and Shelby Roberson; along with several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She is survived by son, Rick Jennings (Melanie) of Church Hill, TN; daughter, Lisa Mauldin (Todd) of Starkville, MS; special friend of the family, Mickey Burton (Kathy) of Kingsport,TN; grandchildren, Chelsea McIntosh (Alex) of Starkville, MS, Devon Jennings (Kayla) of Johnson City, TN, Mackenzie Jennings of Johnson City, TN, and Maggie Jennings of Johnson City, TN; along with the loves of her life, her great-grandchildren, Poppy and Tripp McIntosh of Starkville, MS and Tatum Jennings of Johnson City, TN.
In addition, she is survived by her brothers, Alfred Flanary of Dungannon, VA and Johnny Flanary of Mt. Carmel, TN; along with her sister-in-law, Mary Kate Jennings of Kingsport, TN. She is also survived by a multitude of nieces and nephews who she dearly loved and appreciated.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 pm on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Lynn Garden Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Rick Meade officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11am on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50am.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport is serving the Jennings family.
