Opal Pierson Woods

Kingsport - Opal Pierson Woods, 90 of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 10, 2016 at Holston Valley Medical Center. She was born in Scott County Virginia and had lived in Kingsport since 1950. She had worked at Tenn Eastman in her early years. Opal was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Woods; an infant son; her parents, Hall and Nellie Jane Rose Pierson; sisters, Carrie Page, Belle Dye, Lou Ford, Ollie Pierson, Mattie Carter and Letha Maness; brothers, Palmer, Sam, Edward, Elmer, Chester and Kenneth Pierson. Opal is survived by her daughter, Peggy Jane Campbell; son, Jeffrey Woods and wife Daniela; grandsons, Jason Horton and wife Karen, Jacob and Gabriel Woods; great-grandchildren, Conner and Abigail Horton; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Woods family.
