Owen Franklin Wells

Owen Franklin Wells, age 97 of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 11, 2025.  Owen was born on September 28, 1927, in Big Stone Gap, VA to John and Blanche Wells.  Owen retired from Norfolk – Southern Railroad after 30 years of dedicated service.  Owen married Reba Williams and after 70 years of a beautiful life together, she survives. 

Owen loved his family and farming.  He was a hard worker and a great example to all those who knew him.  He bravely served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War Campaign, and it was an honor to him to be able to serve his country.   

Owen was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Albert, Jim, and Glen; and four sisters, Maude, Stella, Doll, and Mandy.  Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Reba Wells; daughter, Theresa Wells Couch; two sons, John Wells (Sheila), and Larry Wells (Susan); two special grandsons, Logan Russell, and Gabe Russell; grandson, David Wells; two granddaughters, Natasha Mullins (Paul), and Michelle Milton and (Marc); six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.   

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Carter-Trent Funeral Home Kingsport.   A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm and a military honors graveside service will follow at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA. Owen’s family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.  American Legion Hammond Post 3/265 will be conducting the military honors.
