Rita Carol Miller

Dec 12, 1952 — Jun 28, 2016

Rita Carol Miller went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 after a strong battle with cancer. Rita was born December 12, 1952 in Orebank, TN. She graduated from Ketron High School in 1970. She married Joseph "Joey" Miller on October 6, 1972, and resided in Kingsport, TN. Rita is survived by her daughter and love of her life, Joni Miller Cole and husband Greg Cole of Bristol, TN; Mother, Margaret Miller; sisters Charlotte Childers and Barbara Lawson, husband Mike. Special nephew and niece Wayne Childers and Tina Lane, and great-nephew Josh Childers; and her special godson Drew Duncan, wife Nevie. Rita was preceded in death by the father she loved so much, Lloyd Miller. Rita was a member of Homeland Baptist Church in Kingsport, TN. After years at Miller's Upholstery, she worked for SMI Properties at Bristol Motor Speedway for 19 years. The family invites you to a Celebration of Life in honor of Rita at Homeland Baptist Church in Kingsport, on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 1:00pm. Per Rita's request, "a time to remember me and have a good time, but not too good of a time". Rita was always a loving and giving person. So as she requested, in lieu of flowers please make a donation to Kingsport Hematology and Oncology, 4485 West Stone Drive, Suite 200, Kingsport, TN 37660 and list for "patient snacks". This is for food and drink provided to patients and family while getting treatments. We all know Rita never liked to see food run out. Carter-Trent Funeral Home in downtown Kingsport is proudly serving the Miller family.
