Ronald "Wayne" Carter
September 1, 1941 — January 31, 2026
The world would be a nicer place if everyone had the ability to love as unconditionally as a dog. – M.K. Clinton.
Wayne Carter went to be with our Lord on Saturday, January 31, 2026. Wayne died peacefully in his sleep, with his son John and his wife Terry, by his side with his son Jason by phone telling him how much he was loved. His family knows that he is with Jesus and loved ones who are there already as he had a great testimony. Wayne was born in Church Hill to John and Mattie Carter on September 1, 1941. He was a lifelong resident of the Ross Camp Ground community where he had many good friends and fond memories. We know that he is safe with God and free from the pain and suffering that his disease brought him for many years. His family is thankful and praises God for this assurance. Wayne was referred to as Papaw. He was a wonderful Papaw and loved his family so much. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 14 years Terry Carter; sons John (Monica) Carter and Jason (Cammie) Carter; step-son Justin (Fredia) Williams; step-daughter Susan (Wayne) Elam; grandchildren Gabe, Mason, Madi, Ellis, Grayson, Alana, Ridge, Ashley, Katie, Sydney (Levi), and Eryck; great-grandchildren Cole and Erycka; sister Joyce Hammonds; his dog Lucy; Lucy’s godparents Steve and Angie Allison; as well as several nieces and nephews.
