Ruby Hall

Apr 17, 1942 — Oct 23, 2016

Ruby Lee (Leonard) Hall, age 74; Mendota, VA entered in Canaan, October 23, 2016, her Blessed Hope, to greet her Savior, Jesus Christ, to live and rest for all Eternity. After struggling many years with sickness, she has defeated death, sickness, and despair, and she stands victorious through the blood of Jesus Christ who has fulfilled His promise to her. Mrs. Hall was married for 51 years and she was a homemaker, mother, and a friend to many people. She was saved in a country church, Church of Jesus Christ, as a teenager, and it was there that she met her husband. During the early years of her marriage, Mrs. Hall would travel to many places singing gospel music with her husband, sister, and sister-in-law. She had a beautiful alto voice, and she loved to sing the old Chuck Wagon Gang's songs. One of her favorite songs was "Looking for a City" which echoed her desire to be with Jesus. As a mother, Mrs. Hall referred to her sons as her "precious jewels" and to her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Hall said that she was "the daughter she never had." Mrs. Hall cared about the welfare of family and people. Often times she would give her last dollar to someone in need. Many times Mrs. Hall would call to check on friends and neighbors to make sure they were okay. Mrs. Hall had a special gift, which is the gift of long suffering found in Ephesians chapter four. Mrs. Hall loved to make people laugh and her wittiness was always quick and finely tuned. She had a laugh that made everyone happy and her Shakespearean quotes were always well timed and masterfully delivered. She loved her flowers, her wind chimes, and the humming birds that came to her feeder and especially Smokey, her cat. Mrs. Hall gave love and only wanted love in return. At the end of every phone call, visit or departure, she would always say, "I love you forever and forever, always." Moments before she closed her eyes in death, Mrs. Hall whispered, "I love you forever and forever, always." Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Thomas Hall; her father, Ruben Leonard; step-father, Bill Rutter; and her mother, Belva Leonard Rutter. Mrs. Hall is survived by her two sons, Gregory Hall and wife Patricia; and Gary Hall; two brothers, Wayne Leonard and wife Shirley; and Frank Rutter; two sisters, Brenda Leonard Bowlin; and Caroline Rutter. Mrs. Hall is also survived by many nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City, VA. A celebration of Mrs. Hall's life will be held at Blue Springs Primitive Baptist Church (Beech Grove) in Hiltons, VA at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 28, 2016. Jim Bowlin, Rev. Ray Davis, Elder Chris Salley and Elder Frank Gilliam will be officiating. Graveside services will be held at Spurrier's Cemetery.
