Ruby Mae Scott

Ruby Mae Scott, age 103, passed away peacefully Monday, September 21, 2026, with her family by her side. She was born on May 20, 1923, in Scott County, VA, to the late Luther and Pearl Addington Good.

Ruby attended Pleasant View Baptist Church in Kingsport.

In her free time, she enjoyed playing pool and was an avid bowler. Ruby was a very independent woman. She was loving, thoughtful, witty, and always had a smile on her face. Ruby was very loved by her family and will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Scott "Scottie"; son, Gerald Taylor; grandson, Richard Broadwater; and son in law, Sam Goins.

Those left to cherish Ruby's memory are her children, Clara Goins; grandchildren, Rhonda Bradley (Andy), Robin Sexton (Jerry), and Jeff Taylor; great grandchildren, Brandon, Wesley, Jordan, and Peyton; and five great-great-grandchildren; sister Ilene Frazier.

At Ruby's request, she will be cremated. The graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Taylor Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a thank you to Caris Hospice and the staff of Church Hill Post Acute and Rehab Center.
