Steven James Hall 55, of Gate City passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017 at his residence after an extended battle with cancer. Steve graduated from John Battle High School in 1981 and later went on to serve in the United States Airborne Infantry Green Berets. After serving his country he was employed as a railroad engineer at Norfolk Southern. Steve was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James and Lilly Hall; maternal grandparents, Guy and Blanch Meade. Steve is survived by the love of his life, Terri Jennings Hall; stepsons, Chad Morgan and lifelong companion Lori White, and Justin Morgan; that favorite sister-in-law, Rhonda Bright; parents, David and Betty Hall of Bristol, VA; brother, David Hall and wife Christy; father and mother-in-law, Berl and Shirley Jennings; special nephews, Jake Hall, Josh Bright, and Caleb Bright; those precious grandbabies, Charlie, Lola, Airiana, Genevieve, and Aden; special companion, Jazzy; along with several aunts and uncles. The family will receive friends from 12pm to 1pm on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Holston View UMC in Weber City, VA. A memorial service will follow with Pastor Wayne Hedrick officiating. Music will be provided by Daryl Jayne. Military graveside service will follow at Darthula Baptist Church Cemetery with American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 conducting the honors. The family will also receive anytime at the residence of Terri and Steve. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Wellmont Hospice and Elizabeth for their loving care. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the family to help defer medical expenses. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Hall Family.
