Thelma "Tippy" Vaughn

Thelma "Tippy" Vaughn Thelma "Tippy" Vaughn, age 88, of Kingsport, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 22, 2016 following an extensive battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Freedom Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel. Thelma enjoyed reading and writing poetry and listening to bluegrass gospel music. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Paul "Junior" Vaughn; parents, Claude and Myrtle Davis; and sisters, Alpha Frazier, Gladys Henderson and Edith Robinette. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Malone; son, Sherman Vaughn (Sharon); grandchildren, Cindy Hicks, Missy Layne, Jason Carpenter and Travis Vaughn; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in downtown Kingsport. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 25, 2016 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
