William David Flanary
May 3, 1955 — May 14, 2018
William David “ Dave” Flanary 63, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was a graduate of Gate City High School where he excelled as a football player. After his graduation he attended East Tennessee State University on a football scholarship. Dave worked for 9 years at the Kingsport Press before going to TN Eastman where he worked for 33 years before his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weber City where he served as deacon.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Ella Flanary.
Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years, Theresa Flanary; daughter, Rebecca Flanary; sister, Claudette Obenschian and husband Richard; along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of special friends.
The family will receive friends from 4pm to 6pm on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Weber City. A celebration of life service will follow with Dr. Lester Morelock, Pastor Rick Vanoy, and Rick Begley officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and physical therapy staff at Asbury Baysmont for their loving care.
