WILLIE STACY
Kingsport- Willie “Old Man of the Mountain” Stacy, 92, of Kingsport, went to be with his Lord on Saturday morning (April 21, 2018) following a brief illness. He was born in Scott County, Virginia and had resided in the Bloomingdale community the majority of his life. Willie was a veteran of World War II having served with the United States Navy on the Destroyer Richard P. Leary. He retired from the Mead Corporation after 42 years of service. Mr. Stacy loved to farm and was always making a garden. He was an avid hunter who loved everything outdoors. He was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Virgie Stacy; his sisters, Virginia Stacy and Edith Mae Stacy.
Willie Stacy is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Helen Lucille Stacy; his daughter, Sue Arnold and husband, Rick; a son, Benny Stacy and wife, Bonnie; his grandchildren, Rocky Stacy, Jason Stacy, Gwen Arnold, and Crissy Arnold; his great grandchildren, Colt Stacy, Roxanne Stacy, Brittany Smith, and Ricky Smith; brothers, O.M. Stacy (Tina) and Lester Stacy; sisters, Marie Verbal and Patsy Altman; a special friend, Dannie Elliott along with several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will take place on Monday (April 23, 2018) at Good Shepherd Baptist Church from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. or friends may also call anytime at his residence in Bloomingdale. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday (April 23, 2018) at 2 p.m. at the church with Pastor Robert Fletcher, officiating. Music will be provided by the Perry Family. A military graveside service will be conducted by the American Legion Color Guard following the funeral at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Rocky Stacy, Jason Stacy, Dannie Elliott, Rick Arnold, and Tommy Davis serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 150 New Beason Well Road, Kingsport, TN 37660.
