Wilma C. Hicks

Wilma C. Hicks, age 93, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 15, 2023. She was a long-time member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church and was a member of Bloomingdale Ruritan Club. Along with her late husband, Ed Hicks, they owned and operated Hicks Grocery behind Kingsley Elementary for 26+ years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Andrew “Ed” Hicks; parents, James and Julia Smith; grandson, Roy Stephen Short; and 2 brothers, Jim and Charles Smith. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Billie Jo Pray, Lois Burke and Judy Short (Morgan); son, Kenny Hicks (Teresa); 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Maccarone (Paul); several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Bloomingdale Baptist Church in Kingsport. Funeral service will begin at 7:00 pm with great-grandson Luke Stacy officiating and special music provided by the church choir. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 19, 2023, at East Lawn Memorial Park in Kingsport. All those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 pm.
