Buford Wayne Meade

Buford Wayne Meade, age 87 of Nickelsville, VA, entered eternal life on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.  Buford was born on December 17, 1938, in Nickelsville, VA to Drexel and Effie Meade.  On February 23, 1968, Buford married the love of his life, Shirley Dingus, and after 58 years of a beautiful life together, she continues the life that they built together. 

Buford loved his family.  He enjoyed cattle farming and working outside.  In his free time, he enjoyed grafting apple trees and gardening. 

Buford was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Douglas Boyd Meade.  Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley Meade; daughter, Ginger O’Reilly and husband, Shea; sister, Hazel Addington; brother, Kenneth Meade and wife, Clarice; and many special nieces, nephews, family members and friends.  The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to Buford’s nephew, Billy Starkey, and all the medical staff for the care they provided during Buford’s illness. 

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City.  A memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Larry Beavers officiating. To attend services virtually please click here.
