Chester Emil Shell Jr.

Chester Emil Shell Jr. 57, of Weber City went to be with the Lord on September 10, 2026, at his home with his family by his side. He served his country in the U.S. Army as an Army Ranger, Special Forces, 82nd Airborne, as well Combat in Panama. Chester was a former member of  American Legion of Gate City and the 82nd Airborne Association. He also served his community as a Police Officer and Volunteer Firefighter in Gate City. When his health permitted, he spent his time mowing yards, helping others, and doing what he truly loved which was taking care of his grandkids. He loved watching Miami Dolphins Football, Hockey, and wrestling along with his westerns and history. His son actively trying to make him a Tennessee Vols Fan to no avail! Chester loved hunting, fishing, and was an avid reader of western and history novels. Chester was a loving and devoted husband, dad, poppy, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Shell Sr.; stepfather, Ray Crawford; grandparents, Farmer and Effie Shell; sister, Cathy Stencel.

Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Susie Shell; children, Crystal Shell and husband Kris, Cordell Shell and wife Emily, Chloe Metcalf and husband Travis; 5 grandchildren who he loved dearly, Lexi Reno, Walker Shell, Colton Shell, Axyl Metcalf, and Remy Metcalf; mother, Carol Crawford; stepmother, Jean Shell; along with several brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:30pm to 7:30pm on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Gateway Baptist Church in Weber City. A Celebration of Life Service will follow with Pastor Justin Smith officiating.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caretakers Sherri Rhoton, Penny Hammonds, and Linda Weber for their help and love.
