Emogaine Kilgore Bishop, 94, of Gate City, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 4, 2026. Emogaine was born on March 27, 1932, in Dante, VA to the late James and Julia (Price) Kilgore. Emogaine worked for the Kingsport City School System for 18 years.

Emogaine loved serving the Lord and singing with her gospel group, The Bishop Family Singers. She was a member of Riverside Avenue Baptist Church in Kingsport. She always had a song in her heart, and she accepted Jesus Christ into her heart at the age of nine.

Emogaine was preceded in death by her parents; her loving and faithful husband of 46 years, Fred Bishop; two sisters and their husbands, Loraine and OM Ketron, and Betty and Tom Winegar; one brother and his wife, Gary and Wilma Kilgore; granddaughter, Jamie Johnson; son-in-law, Eric Christian; and several nieces and nephews. Those left to cherish her memory are her four children, Brenda Christian, Deloris Thacker and husband, Ralph, Darrell Bishop and wife, Sandra, and Kelvin Bishop; five grandchildren, Chris Christian and wife, Karen, Mike Christian and wife, Angie, Pam Kestner and husband, Terry, Misty Carter and husband, John, and Becky Bishop; grandson-in-law, Rick Johnson; nine great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and several loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Scott County Funeral Home Weber City. A funeral service will follow with Pastors Troy Daily, Chris Christian, and David Roller officiating. Special music will be provided by The McMurray Brothers. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 11:00 am at Walnut Chapel Cemetery. Michael Christian, Matthew Christian, Andrew Christian, Daniel Parton, Jeff Winegar, Jeremy Winegar, Cole Carter, and Broddie Christian will serve as pallbearers. Jackie Winegar is an honorary pallbearer. Those wishing to attend the graveside are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 am.
