Jason Robert Breeding

CHURCH HILL — Jason Robert Breeding, 43, took his final breath at home on April 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, and entered into the presence of the Lord.

Born on May 21, 1982, Jason lived a life marked by deep faith, a strong work ethic, service to others, and steadfast devotion to his family.

Raised in Hurley, Va., Jason was a 2000 graduate of Hurley High School. He earned a B.A. in Sociology from Berea College in 2004. After graduation, he and his friends founded Living Stones Ministries in Grundy, Va. God used his passion, vision, and talent to reach many young lives for Jesus through this outreach.

On May 19, 2007, Jason married the love of his life, Kacie. He went on to spend about 15 years working at Eastman Chemical Company, where he was known for his hard work and dedication until illness made it impossible for him to continue. He also proudly served his community for several years as a firefighter with the Mount Carmel Volunteer Fire Department.

Jason was preceded in death by Baby “Joy” Breeding; paternal grandparents, William and Goldie Breeding; and maternal grandparents, Lonnie Jr. and Juanita Matney; and several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kacie (née Dingus) Breeding; son, Jakob; daughters, Savannah and Julianna; his parents, Donnie and Lisha Breeding; sister, Kristie (Bryan) Leonard; brother-in-law Nick (Kelli) Dingus; great-aunt Della Prater; aunts, Christine (Richie) Burks, Shirley Horton, Brenda (Kenneth) Vestal, and Darlene Osborne; and uncles Jimmy (Carol), Curtis, and Ronnie Breeding, and several cousins.

A visitation of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, April 29, from 5-7 p.m., at Ridgeview Baptist Church, 234 Hurd Road, Church Hill, with funeral service following at 7 p.m. with Pastor Jon Rogers officiating. A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 30, at Addington Frame Cemetery at 11 a.m. Those wishing to go in procession are asked to meet at 10:15 am at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City, Va.

Pallbearers will be Jakob Breeding, Nick Dingus, Bryan Leonard, Anthony Crawford, Tim Risner, and Jay Cole. Honorary pallbearers will be Julianna and Savannah Breeding.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to members of Jason's care team: Dr. Gadde at UT Medical Center, Dr. Jaishankar at Tennessee Cancer Specialists, and Dr. Boys with Ballad Health; the staff at Select Specialty Hospital in Bristol; Adoration Home Health; the Amedisys hospice care team; and the many exceptional nurses and others who cared for him throughout his journey.
