Jimmie L. Bishop

Jimmie L. Bishop (Tirebaby), 88 of Duffield, VA entered into his Heavenly home on Monday, September 15, 2026, at his residence. Born in Scott County, VA on March 21, 1938, he was the son of the late Rev. Pat & Edna Carter Bishop. He attended Flatlick Community Church & Duffield Primitive Baptist Church. He was employed at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA for several years before working at Robert's Tire and Recapping in Weber City, VA for 48 ½ years. Jimmie served the Scott County Community for several years as a member of the Duffield Volunteer Fire and Rescue as a certified Emergency Medical Technician & Firefighter, where he received the Firefighter of the Year Award.

Jimmie was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Hoyt Bishop (infant), Earl (Linda) Bishop, William "Bill" Bishop; 1 sister Linda (Aaron) Bowen; and 1 niece Angie Owens.

Jimmie is survived by the love of his life of 66 years Loretta Bishop; 2 daughters Audrey Bishop and Jennifer Bishop (Michael) Lane; 1 granddaughter Madison Lane; 1 great-granddaughter Lacey McKee; a niece and 4 nephews of whom he thought of as his own; 5 great-nephews; as well as a host of friends, family, and neighbors.

The family will receive friends, Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00pm with Pastor Robert Brown, Pastor Stephen Vanzant, and Hospice Chaplain R.J. Rose officiating. Music will be provided by Rollers Chapel Singers, Burke's Chapel Singers, and Rebecca Gunnoe.  Burial will follow at Arwood Family Cemetery, Autumn Drive, Duffield, VA with family serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and former co-workers.
