Lettie Inez Carter
Lettie Inez Bledsoe Carter, 77, of Blackwater, VA gained her angel wings on February 24, 2019 at her home following a lengthy illness.
Lettie was a born caregiver, daughter, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She lived her life always doing for others. Lettie worked harder than anyone, and she loved all who surrounded her. She had a heart of gold and most importantly, she knew our Lord Jesus Christ who had a better home waiting for her in Heaven.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burdine Davis Carter; her son (who was her sunshine), Burdine Davis Carter, Jr.; parents, Claude and Ella Collier Bledsoe; sisters, Dorothy Pearcy and husband Ralph, Thelma Owens and husband Crimmett; brothers, Jerry Bledsoe and Elmer Bledsoe.
She is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Carter Clark, and husband Blane Clark; her grandchildren, Brandon Clark and wife Shanna; great grandson, Bentley; granddaughters, Maggie Clark, Taylor Kate Clark and Madison Eleanor Clark; sisters, Elsie Childress and husband Mike, Regina Tilley and husband James, Lucille Mendenhall, Marie Lawson, Shirley Bledsoe and husband Jack; brother, June Bledsoe and wife Patty; several very special nieces and nephews; also she had one very special sidekick “like a son”, Jason Owens; her “special daughter”, Tammy Hood Page and husband Jason; "special grandson", Michael Sloan and wife Ariel; “special great grandchildren”, Leo, Amren, Jayden, Summer and Braylon; very close friends, Ruth Osborne, Phyllis Davis, Nelllie Ruth Gilliam and Shirley Lawson.
A very special thank you to her caregivers, at Caris Hospice and Mary Bloomer for all the care they gave her during her illness.
A celebration of life and a good old fashion gospel singing will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at The Carter Family Cemetery in Blackwater, VA. All friends and family are welcome. Pallbearers will be Blane Clark, Brandon Clark, Jason Owens, Donald Ray Bledsoe, Mike Childress and Michael Sloan. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Elliott and Bentley Clark.
Per Lettie's request the family wishes for there to be no flowers.
