Mabel "Sue" Wallen

Mabel “Sue” Wallen, age 87, of Duffield went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 27, 2026. Sue was born in Scott County, VA, on March 10, 1939, to Bent and Rissie Dingus. She was a member of Starnes Bend Church where she attended for many years as she was able. Sue enjoyed shopping and going out to eat with her family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, special aunt, sister, sister-in-law, and friend, and will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters Hazel Ashworth and Geneva Hall; brothers Audley Dingus, E.B. Dingus, Eugene Dingus, Paul Dingus, and Ray “Monk” Dingus; nephew Ricky Wallen; as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 53 years Bill Wallen of the home; sister Normaline Sturgill; special nephew Kenny (Lori) Dingus whom she loved like her children; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jack and Paulette Wallen; sister-in-law Frances Wallen; as well as several other nieces and nephews.

A visitation of family and friends will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Scott County Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Riley Boy and Pastor Lennis France officiating. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 11:00 am at Holston View Cemetery, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 am.
