Mattie "Lou" Lovell

Mattie "Lou" Lovell, age 64, of Gate City went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 15, 2026. She was born to Fredrick and Lois Mullins in Clintwood, VA on November 12, 1961. Lou was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son Thomas Ray Lovell II; granddaughter Amber Culbertson; brother Rocky Mullins; father-in-law and mother-in-law TJ and Evelyn Lovell; and niece Eva McNairnie Borders.

Those left to cherish her memory is her husband of 48 years Thomas Ray Lovell; son Dacian Alexandar Lovell; daughter Brenda (Larry) Culbertson; sisters Kathy (Ronnie) Moon, Linda Mullins, and Tina Harris; brother Kyle (Carolyn Culbertson) Mullins; grandchildren Tiffany and Pheonix; 2 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

A visitation of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm at Scott County Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at 11:00 am at Holston View Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 am.
