Wilford E. Williams

Wilford E. Williams, 96, Gate City, Va. passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019, at Nova Health and Rehab after a lengthy illness. Wilford was born May 1, 1923 to the late James Andrew and Sara Davidson Williams. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde and Earnest Williams; one sister, Alene Kendrick. He was a WWII Navy veteran, having served on the USS Canfield and enjoyed doing veterinary work and farming. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife of sixty-three years, Kathleen Williams; one daughter, Donna Smith and her husband Jerry; one son, Larry Williams; one brother-in-law, Ross Kendrick; several nieces and nephews and his fur babies. The graveside committal service for Wilford E. Williams will be conducted at 2:30 pm Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City. Rev. G.W. White will officiate. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 will accord military honors. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 2 pm Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
