Carol Jean Kolstad

Carol Jean Kolstad (nee Tates) of Waukesha passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, Waukesha, at the age of 77. Carol was born Nov. 18, 1939, to Jacob and Virginia (nee Fero) Tates in Waukesha, where she was raised and lived her entire life. On Dec. 13, 1958, she married Erling O. Kolstad in Waukesha. Carol became very involved with their church, St. Luke's Lutheran, in Waukesha, teaching Sunday School, Altar Guild and the counting team. For 30 years, Carol was employed in the Waukesha School system as a librarian's aid at Saratoga Elementary School. She loved reading, crocheting, knitting, watching wildlife, and gardening. Carol is survived by her husband, Erling; children, the Rev. Dr. Keith (Karen) Kolstad and Bradley (Marcia) Kolstad; grandchildren, Jacob (Amie) Kolstad and Jacqueline (Jessy) Haid; brother, Paul (Jana) Schmidt and sister, Jean (Chuck) Schutt. She is further survived by other relatives and many dear friends. Carol was preceded in death by her parents and son, Kevin. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll St. Waukesha, with the worship service following at 2:30. Private burial will be held at Highland Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Seasons Hospice, many friends, and caregivers.
