Elda Tarnish
Nov 17, 1920 — Jan 7, 2016
Elda Anita Tarnish, of Sun City, AZ and formerly of Waukesha, WI, died peacefully at AngelsGrace Hospice at the age of 95. Elda was born on November 17, 1920 in Westfield, WI to Ernest and Laura Schlueter. She graduated from Waukesha High School and attended Carroll College. Elda was married to Howard Tarnish on June 21, 1941 at Salem Church, where they met. She retired as a manager from Wisconsin Telephone, where she was a district manager. She enjoyed many years with her hard working "girls" who continued to keep in contact through her lifetime.
After retirement, she and Howard traveled in their airstream trailer throughout much of the US and Canada. They bought a home in Sun City, AZ and lived there when not traveling. There, they were members of Willowbrook Methodist Church. After the loss of Howard in 1988, Elda moved to the El Dorado of Sun City. Elda continued traveling with her family and friends. She had many adventures with Marge Greenhalge, her dear Sun City friend. Elda will be remembered for her love of God and her family, her interest in learning and love of travel.
Elda was the beloved mother of Vicki Tarnish Carstenn and son-in-law, Terry Carstenn. She is survived by sister-in-law, Audrey Hepp; three nieces and three nephews, who she adored and many wonderful friends. Elda is preceded in death by her husband, Howard; her parents and four brothers, Lloyd, Milford, Glen and Hollis Schluter.
