James V. Eutizzi
Mar 21, 1963 — Nov 30, 2016
James V. "Jim" Eutizzi, of Waukesha, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the age of 53 years. Jim was born on March 21, 1963 in Green Bay, WI, the son of Vincent and Doris. Jim was an advocate in the ALS community and spent much of his time spreading awareness and fundraising for ALS. He spoke at many events and was a motivational writer with his blog, "Jim's Journey with ALS." In 2014, Jim received the Lawrence A. Rand award for his instrumental role in the ALS Association. Jim, a retired salesman, was diagnosed with ALS in 2007 at the age of 44. His unflagging determination to spread ALS awareness to his fellow citizens in Wisconsin and his willingness to help others with the disease exemplify the reasons he is being honored with the esteemed prize. Jim also played a huge part in the creation and success of the ALS Chasin' a Cure Fundraiser at Miller Park. Besides his role in the ALS Association, Jim was an avid sports fan, especially the Packers and hockey. He was a big supporter of Waukesha Youth Hockey and the Waukesha Wings. Jim loved music and even has a brick at Summerfest dedicated to him. The support of Jim's friends and family has been influential in Jim's journey.
"Life goes on," he says. "I told my kids that they have to promise me that this does not change their dreams or their future, because tomorrow, assuming we all wake up, 'you have school and you have hockey."
Jim will be dearly missed by his wife, Susan; children, Daniel, Jacob, Evan, and Kathryn; mother, Doris Eutizzi; siblings, Joy Leamon, Connie Knox, Linda Williams, John (Sandi) Johnson, Julie (Peter) Durand; mother-in-law, Barb Rhodus; siblings-in-law, Julie (Dan) Bjorklund and Steve (Melissa) Rhodus; four-legged friend, Molly; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Vincent and father-in-law, Perry Rhodus.
A visitation for Jim will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd. Waukesha, WI 53188. A second visitation will be held Tuesday, from 9:30 AM until 10:15 AM, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM, at St. William Catholic Church, 440 W. Moreland Blvd. Waukesha, WI 53188. Rev. Curt Frederick will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Eutizzi Children educational future.
A special thank you to family and friends, Heartland Hospice, First Light Home Care and Hartland Terrace staff's for the compassionate care they gave to Jim.
